Term-time holidays and fines

Only a head teacher can grant leave during term time and only in exceptional circumstances. A first penalty notice is £80 per parent, per child when paid within 21 days, rising to £160 when paid within 28 days. A second notice for the same parent and child within three years is £160, with no lower early-payment rate. Requests for leave go to the school.
