Some Wigan borough households will switch bin rounds from Tuesday 13 October. The changes affect fewer than 3% of the borough, according to Wigan Council.

Which areas are affected?

Affected routes in Higher Folds, Siddow Common, Bedford and Golborne move a day later. Other Golborne homes near the driving range, and Standish homes near the Boars Head, move earlier.

Platt Bridge and Mosley Common keep the same collection weekday but have a different order of bins. Astley Green is also listed among the affected areas.

The council has sent letters and revised calendars to the households involved. Its announcement does not set out every affected street, so the area names alone cannot identify an individual household’s new round.

How to check your household’s collection

The council’s bin-collection page says new online calendars will be available on Monday 12 October. It links to My Neighbourhood, where you enter your postcode to find your bin calendar.

Use that calendar to check the collection date and the bin due. For general disposal questions, the council also provides a separate guide to which bin to use.

Existing schedules continue until the change. The council says households that have not received a notification letter keep their current collections.
