Christian Saydee returned to action following an injury layoff to help Wigan Athletic secure a valuable 1-0 victory over Reading at the Brick Community Stadium. The forward came on as a second-half substitute and made an immediate impact, providing the assist for Scott Hogan's 71st-minute winner.
Saydee had been sidelined since pre-season through injury. Speaking to Latics TV after the match, he said: "It was really good to be out there. I've been on the sideline for most of the season so far, so it was good to be back out there."
Making an Impact
The forward was pleased to contribute to the win after his absence. "I just wanted to get out there and show everyone what I can do, but then help the team get a win and battle for the win," Saydee said.
Describing the build-up to Hogan's goal, Saydee explained: "For the goal, I actually saw Brad (Burrowes) making a run towards goal, but it was cut out by the goalkeeper, but I was happy to get the assist and see Scotty (Hogan) there to get the goal."
Manager Gary Caldwell's side secured the three points in what Saydee described as a battling performance.
