Wigan Athletic suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat to Stockport County at the Brick Community Stadium, just three days after an impressive 3-1 victory over MK Dons.
Defender Morgan Fox acknowledged that Latics were punished for dropping their standards in the loss to Jim McNulty's side. However, Fox felt the team showed a response after changing shape during the first half.
Tactical Change and Second Half Performance
Fox said the tactical adjustment helped Latics get back into the contest and create opportunities in the second half, though the side ultimately could not find a way back into the game.
"They were ruthless in front of goal, and the whole team felt it," Fox told Latics TV. "We came off it from Wednesday night, and when you do, you get punished."
"The positive is that although we did get it wrong to start with, we changed, and then from that point, we were in the game. We had chances in the second half that we needed to take, but once we changed, the game changed."
Focus Turns to Sheffield Wednesday
The squad will review the defeat during the week with a focus on responding next weekend when Wigan travel to Sheffield Wednesday.
Fox expressed confidence ahead of the fixture. "Next week will be a difficult game against Sheffield Wednesday, but we will be more than up for it. When you look at our squad, it's young and hungry, and those are the types of games you want to play in. Going there, it will be a great atmosphere, and we're going there to try and get the win."
