Wigan Athletic secured their first Sky Bet League One victory of the 2026/27 season with a 3-1 win over MK Dons at the Brick Community Stadium on Wednesday night. Jensen Weir scored twice, with Max Power adding a third goal as Gary Caldwell's side claimed the three points they had been seeking.
Attendance at the stadium was 7,415, with 314 away supporters from MK Dons.

Latics started brightly and created early chances. Fraser Murray struck the post before Dara Costelloe was denied on the rebound, with the ball cleared off the line. The breakthrough came just before half-time when Weir let fly from 25 yards out, converting a loose ball into the roof of the net.
Caldwell had made five changes to the starting XI from Sunday's encounter at AFC Wimbledon, bringing in Joe Whitworth for his debut, along with Morgan Fox, Charlie Gray, Luke Harris, and Fraser Murray. Luke Harris was withdrawn early after picking up a knock and replaced by Reggie Walsh.
Max Power ensured Latics started the second half strongly, volleying a strike into the far corner from the edge of the area. Weir then added his second of the match, connecting with Brad Burrowes' lay-off to smash the ball into the back of the net. Aaron Collins pulled one back for MK Dons in the 82nd minute, but Latics held on to secure the win.
