Brad Burrowes has joined Wigan Athletic on a season-long loan from Aston Villa. The 18-year-old midfielder arrives at the Brick Community Stadium for the 2026/27 campaign.
Burrowes progressed through Aston Villa's Academy and was part of the club's FA Youth Cup-winning U18 team in 2024/25. He featured regularly for Villa's U21s last season, scoring in their Premier League 2 campaign and making an impression in the club's run to the quarter-finals of the PL2 Knockout Stage. He is an England youth international.
First Impressions
Speaking to Latics TV following his arrival, Burrowes said he was pleased with his reception at the club. "I'm very happy to be here. From what I can gather so far, it looks like an unbelievable club from what I've been told. I've had a very warm welcome too, so I'm really happy to be here."
He explained that Head Coach Gary Caldwell had convinced him the move made sense. "I was told earlier this week that a loan move would be possible and one of the options for me, which I agreed with. I've had a few conversations with the Head Coach over the past few days, and it was a no-brainer really coming here."
What He Brings
Burrowes outlined what he hopes to contribute on and off the pitch. "On the pitch, I will bring energy, a lot of pace and hopefully some goals too. Off the pitch, I like to interact with the fans and people around the place, so that is what I will try and pride myself on during my time here."
