Frightertainment is a horror entertainment brand operated from the Wigan area of Greater Manchester.
The channel started in 2023 with general knowledge quizzes, movie clips and film-scene guessing games before developing its focus on horror.
A screenshot supplied to Wigan Gazette on 8 October showed about 272,700 TikTok followers and 6.4 million likes. Those figures reflect the supplied screenshot at the time of submission, rather than a live audience counter.
From quizzes to horror
The creator said early uploads typically attracted around 50 to 100 views. A short movie-scene quiz then reached a much wider audience, prompting a change of direction towards a longstanding interest in horror films.
One turning point involved a clip from Horror in the High Desert, a fictional found-footage horror film. The creator said its realistic presentation led some viewers to question whether they were watching a real incident.
The scene was film footage, not evidence of a real event. The creator described its response as a moment when the channel's reach began to grow substantially.
A community of horror fans
TikTok remains the main platform, while producing longer YouTube videos takes more time than short-form posts.
The creator also described the channel's audience as a source of new film suggestions, with viewers recommending titles they might otherwise have missed.
“What started as a little quiz channel in Wigan has become something I'm genuinely proud of.”
Looking beyond one platform
Future ambitions include covering more independent horror and, eventually, making an original film. The creator also wants the project to have a home beyond a single social media account.
Those ideas remain ambitions rather than announced productions. For now, they said enjoying the work matters more than fluctuations in views and follower numbers.
