Wigan Athletic have completed the permanent signing of defender Archie Harris from AFC Bournemouth on a two-year deal, subject to Premier League, EFL and FA approval.
The 21-year-old joins Gary Caldwell's squad ahead of the 2026/27 Sky Bet League One season after progressing through Bournemouth's youth ranks and Academy setup.
Career path to the Brick Community Stadium
Harris gained senior experience across multiple loan spells in non-league football before establishing himself in Bournemouth's Under-21 side. He began his senior career with Poole Town before moving to Torquay United, where consistent performances at Plainmoor earned him the club's BVEC Player of the Month award during the 2023/24 season.
He finished that campaign with Truro City in the National League South before returning to Bournemouth, where he became an integral part of their development squad during the 2024/25 season. Harris helped secure the Professional Development League South title and was recognised internationally, earning his first Wales Under-21 caps. He was also included in Bournemouth's Premier League matchday squads.
Most recently, Harris spent a season-long loan at Eastleigh, where he made 44 appearances across all competitions. He featured for Wigan in the 0-0 pre-season draw with Southport before completing his move.

Harris said: "I'm buzzing to be here; it feels really good, and I can't wait to get started. It's a huge Club, and I watched Wigan Athletic growing up as a kid in the Premier League. Being here today and looking out at the stadium, it's really good, and I'm really glad to be here.
"The Gaffer has been really good with me, and he's settled me in really quickly with the lads. It's been great to speak to him, and he's got a clear layout of what he wants to achieve this season, which is really good to hear."
