Wigan Athletic has unveiled its new away kit for the 2026/27 season, designed by O'Neills to honour the coal-mining industry that shaped the town and surrounding Lancashire.

Design Details

The dark grey shirt features black tonal lines inspired by the railway network that once connected Wigan's collieries. The pattern also reflects the natural marbling found within coal. Silver detailing on the club crest and branding provides contrast against the darker base.

Local Heritage

At its peak, around 1,000 pit shafts operated within five miles of Wigan town centre, employing thousands of residents.

Wigan Athletic has thanked Lancashire Mining Museum in Astley for its support. The club will work with miners' associations on ticketing initiatives throughout the season.

On Sale

The away kit goes on sale online from 2pm on Wednesday, 15 July, and in-store from 10am on Thursday, 16 July. Adult shirts are priced at £55, with junior versions at £40.

Managing director Sarah Guilfoyle said the kit reflects the club's commitment to building around "the people, places and stories that have shaped Wigan".
