Wigan Athletic concluded their pre-season campaign with a 2-0 defeat at Grimsby Town on Saturday. Despite the result, midfielder Max Power believes the team has laid strong foundations ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Power told Latics TV that Wigan created numerous chances at Blundell Park, including a goal that was disallowed. Grimsby Town converted their limited opportunities to claim the win.
Power: Creating Chances Not Enough
"We don't want to become a team where people say we play good stuff but don't win," Power said. The experienced midfielder highlighted the importance of converting attacking opportunities into results as the competitive campaign begins.
Focus on Barnsley Fixture
Power stressed the need for unity between players, staff, and supporters as Wigan prepares for a demanding campaign. The team's next outing is a Carabao Cup fixture at Barnsley next week.
