Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Joe Whitworth has praised his settling-in period at the club ahead of Saturday's Sky Bet League One fixture at Sheffield Wednesday's Hillsborough ground.
Whitworth, who has been at Wigan Athletic for around two weeks, said the squad and staff have made him feel welcome. He highlighted the balance within the group between young players keen to develop and experienced members offering guidance.
Looking ahead to Hillsborough
Wigan face Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday afternoon with a full house expected in South Yorkshire and strong travelling support from Wigan behind the Latics.
"Playing in these types of games, this is what you're a footballer for," Whitworth said. "If you're not excited for these, I don't know what is going to get you up for a game."
The fixture comes after Wigan's disappointing defeat against Stockport County. Whitworth said the team are "looking at putting in a really positive performance and getting three points" at Hillsborough.
