Wigan Athletic has announced the sudden death of Goalkeeping Coach Kevin Miller. Miller joined Wigan Athletic this summer, working alongside manager Gary Caldwell and the First-Team staff.
Miller arrived at Wigan after spending more than three years as Goalkeeping Coach at Exeter City. During his time at the club, he quickly became a respected and valued member of the coaching staff, known for his experience, professionalism and passion for goalkeeping.
Playing Career
Miller's professional playing career spanned almost 18 years, during which he made more than 700 career appearances, including matches in the Premier League. He began his career at Exeter City, helping the club to the Fourth Division title before moving on to play for Birmingham City, Watford, Crystal Palace, Barnsley, Bristol Rovers, Derby, Southampton and Torquay.
Coaching Role
After his playing career, Miller moved into coaching and management. He returned to Exeter City as Goalkeeping Coach in 2022, where he worked to pass on his knowledge and experience to the next generation of goalkeepers.
Those who worked with Miller said he was deeply respected as a colleague and coach, and that his uplifting personality made a lasting impression on everyone around him.
Family and Tributes
Miller is survived by his wife, Fiona, and daughter, Esme. Wigan Athletic has asked for total privacy for Kevin's family and friends at this difficult time.
