Jenna Foubister has been named the 2026 Betfred Women's Super League Woman of Steel, an award she described as a "dream come true". The Wigan Warriors half-back picked up the honour at the Rugby League Awards Night in Manchester, ahead of teammates Eva Hunter and Megan Williams.
The 19-year-old had a standout season for the Warriors, scoring eight tries across 17 appearances in all competitions. She has established herself as one of the leading playmakers in the Women's game.
"It's a dream come true, to be honest," Foubister said. "I've worked hard for this and this season has been great for us as a team, and for me as an individual. I've loved every second of it."
Challenge Cup Success
Foubister was also named Player of the Match in the Women's Challenge Cup Final at Wembley Stadium, where Wigan lifted the trophy for a second time. She created two tries and provided three line-break assists in that performance.
"I love playing for this Club," Foubister said. "It's a dream come true to have won two Challenge Cup trophies. Winning Player of the Match just added to it. Winning the League Leaders' Shield gave us credit for how hard we've all worked."
Foubister reflected on the wider season: "Since pre-season we are consistently working and we all get along which shows on the pitch. When someone makes a mistake, you pull them up, and that's the way it goes in rugby. Although we didn't get the Grand Final win, we have all grown as players and we came away as better people."
World Cup Selection
Foubister has been named in England's 23-player squad for the Rugby League World Cup next month. England will face Wales in their opening Pool game on Saturday 17 October.
"When I got that phone call, it was a dream come true," she said. "We will be going over to Australia to put our best foot forward in the World Cup and I'm going to cherish every second I can take."
